THE STORY OF A PICTURE
I'm dancing cueca
I danced cueca in my
school since I can remember. My father taught me how to dance as a child,
because his family is from the countryside, exactly Rangue, Laguna de Aculeo in
Paine. The cueca was a very important and good family tradition, I was not left
behind.
Every year I danced in
the cueca contest, proud in my huaso costume and my faithful dance partner,
Javi. They were very good times, I was very excited and happy, but I never won.
This photo is from my last cueca contest in 2016 when I was in high school. I
was so desperate to win that we told the jury that once and for all in these 12
years I voted for my hahaha, but it was not like that.
This picture was taken by
a friend from school, I do not remember very well. Despite never having won, he
always likes to dance, although in recent years and everything in the middle
room, he felt very tired.
I have always liked the
cueca and whenever I can, I dance with great pride and joy.
